Pearling

Pearling – Hal Y. Zhang

I’ve gone and cast your words into the sea.
The fillers, I-didn’t-means and not-alls
that take up our ceaseless days,
they will expire their speech bubbles to
settle among shipwrecks of man hubris

past, studs of no worth lacquered
by thinking coral into curios for
fish past and present to savor.
Another 300 million years and they will
breathe as easily atop mountains as within

prodigal floods while entertaining
each other with ancient bubble myths of
light from above, light from within,
joyful ignorance freeing your
vocabulary from original sin.

Hal Y. Zhang picked her name from a hat. Her words are at http://halyzhang.com.
